This season has been something of a timid Autumn, shy to push summer out of the way and quick to let winter take the stage. This past week has been cold, really cold. I’ll admit that Canadians are dealing with harsher temperatures right now but they also live and work in properly insulated buildings. It snuck up on me and now I’m sick, I’ve been sick for almost a whole week and it’s been coming in waves. It’s strange to me because I’m rarely sick. Back home I sniffled 24/7, sure, but that’s got to be some sort of sinus problem, this has been a pretty terrible cold and it’s been dragging. I’m at the point where I can breath through my nose about 50% of the time and my throat doesn’t hurt but I’m plagued by horrible headaches. It’s been a tough day and I want to leave early but I’m not sure how that’ll go over on a Friday. I refused the offer yesterday, maybe that’ll count for something.
Our apartment is too small for all of our clothes and we were a little late switching to the Winter wardrobe so I guess that’s what did it. Always be prepared. It seems that Spring and Fall here are just the two weeks it takes for summer to turn to winter and vis versa. I type this wearing fingerless gloves, my winter coat, and a scarf, sitting on a heating pad in front of a space heater. I’m inside. I’m in my classroom.
Got to hand it to Ro though, she’s been just the opposite. In Canada she was sick more often than me, and here she’s hardly been.
